Stag & Dagger (Leeds)A music fest, spread out on several different venues across hyde park, in the heart of the student ghetto. A fuckload of bands crammed into a tight schedule for for this 1 day only event – so I knew not to expect to see everything.

Abe Vigoda was alright, kinda sounded like Foals at some point. Certainly not “tropical” as some people may refer to them as. Also, Vivian Girls cheered me up loads. For some reason, they reminded me of Bratmobile / Partyline. Dag For Dag was a very strange band with a very strange singer who constantly made flamingo moves with her legs while she played the guitar. The Mae Shi totally floored me. Like, totally. They’re like this 4 piece barrage of noise, energy, nintendo-tone, blood brothers-on-speed indie-rave troupe. At one point, they threw a deflated parachute into the crowd, totally engulfing everyone in a sea of arms and red fabric.

I went to see Cursive at the Brudennell expecting a similar if not chilled atmosphere. Dude, it’s Tim Kasher for fuck’s sake. You’d think everyone would wanna marvel and listen to his lyrical genius and not slam dance themselves to fucking pointless oblivion.
Unfortunately its the latter that happened. The checked shirt brigade decided to drink themselves fucking stupid and act like total fucking assholes, slamming themselves into an unsuspecting crowd.
There is a difference between moshing and being a total dickhead.
At that point, we counted about 5 of them.
Almost ruined my night.
But Cursive was amazing.
I stood near the stairs and sung along to all their songs – it was awesome.
