Hate to break this to you but Major Lazer DOES NOT EXIST. All the kids been hypin up this vampire / zombie killing, one armed CIA soldier. Yeah right.
Diplo and Switch, on the other hand, are real: Diplo with his Mad Decent label and his work with MIA and Switch with his legendary weird house label, Dubsided, and his part in 2007′s dub /new wave queen, Santogold‘s critically acclaimed debut. (Yo, the lawsuit only came in this year. So I’ll still refer to her as Santogold here.)
Now, knowing what Diplo and Switch are capable of independantly, most would think that throwing baile funk, house, dubstep and miami bass into the mix aint gonna be a good idea. Sounds a bit too schiz-zee at first but the outcome of this is a CIA commando with a lazer gun for an arm and a rocket skateboard. Plus, with an 80s cartoon thrown in to accompany this soldier’s music video, you actually get a solid set of reggae dancehall tunes. Not sure if it comes with the action figure though.
Did I say he aint real? Well he aint. But his new album is, and it’s gonna be out TOMORROW on Downtown Records. Get ya fill!
