Death Metal Disco Scene
Death Metal Disco Scene first came into our radar a couple of months back with that impossibly catchy glamrock-electropop track off their first single, 21. To say that track is perfect would be an understatement:
It’s the song the DJ pays at a party that makes the kids jump up, its the song you play at a friend’s house that makes them listen up and go, “Who is this?
It’s the track that we’ve kept playing non-stop when it first came out.

Death Metal Disco Scene labels their sound as doom disco or dischord, electronic music with rock and roll spirit, fuck you punk attitude, gorgeous breakdowns that grab you by the collar, you might as well pogo to it. The brainchild of the multi-talented and lyrically-gifted David James Billing and formed together with Scorch Shephered, DMDS was formed out of frustration after David’s short career as a pop songwriter for Kylie Minogue.

We’ve been quietly following their progress since their single came out, waiting for them to unleash news of a possible album release. And they’ve got back to us this weekend with news of a second forthcoming single, The Dead, another lush, this time slightly mellower track with a somewhat gritty vibe. The Dead is given an upbeat, electro remix by The Hooks – the remix starts off quite awkwardly but rolls into a sleek banger.
