The opening guitar lead and the subsequent riffs toConil‘s track Stoned has the strong odour of Nirvana – but instead of veering into total grunge noise chaos, Conil’s rough, gravel voice and songwriting steers it into a more sophisticated kind of rock.
Perhaps the grunge-ness can be attributed to the fact that his album, Strange Part of The Country is mixed by Tchad Blake, the man who did a coupla Pearl Jam and Tom Waits records.

Somebody mentioned his sound is akin with Coldplay but I don’t think thats accurate coz Chris Martin is just too fucking fragile. We’re thinking its less Kurt Cobain, more Tim Kasher (Cursive), maybe even PJ Harvey.
