MadKids have been getting some mad props from Mowgli and Brodinski but I’ve only just heard of them when someone namedropped their name in the Erol Alkan forums. And then of course the name got mentioned again in French Fries’ Senta remixes ep and I’m like, I gotta know these guys. I gotta hear ‘em.

Checked out their myspace, I Know is such a fucking hot track its ridiculous, found out House of Damon is out and that is another tight four to the floor tune. I had to hit them with some questions and being the ace people that they are, got back to me pretty much straight away. Enjoy:

Techno or House?

MadKids: From House To Techno would be the right answer haha. We always start our set with a classic house style (that is if we start early). Otherwise we jump in with more of a Tech/House feel and try to work the crowd into some heavier techno as the night evolves. We also try to do the same with our production style.

UK or Canada?

MadKids: We would have to say UK because the music scene is incredible over there, we had the chance to go last month and it really feels like home. Montreal is good but its not really consistent. Overall it really depends where you play, there are very few places where we can really express ourselves, musically that is. But still we love Montreal, it’s like a girl that’s hard to get, sometimes you lose hope, sometimes all the extra effort really pays off ; )

Earplugs or Tattoos?

MadKids: Tattoos. Max has his back and wrists done. I don’t have the guts to do either of those but I would definitely pick tattoo if it wasn’t so permanent.

Indie or Major?

MadKids: MadKids are more indie we would say. When you look at it, it’s really Indie House Music. We are in an Indie House band haha. On the other hand, nowadays there are some Major Indie Dance Label.  We have absolutely no problem with the idea off mass exposure, the more people getting into different sounds the better for the “indie” or “major” music industry, as long as the quality stays there of course.

Vinyl or Ableton?

MadKids: CDJ’s!!! We hate computer when we play, we spend so much time on our computer every day, it’s nice to have a brake from the  . We make music off computer, dig music, work but we don’t play off computers… Well actually the new CDJS are looking more and more like little computers so… I guess we will soon have to say we also PLAY off computers… Oh well.
