terminusTerminus encompasses everything that is beautiful about French indie music. Songs dripping heavy with drama, emotion, like lovers under twilight in a nouvelle vague film before the tape is fast forwarded to a blur. Timeless. Endless. The analog synths sets the tone, gives them away. The secret is finally revealed, and I’m going to be in this for the long haul, where’s mycigarettes.

The melancholy female vocals come on. She’s the girl in black, running in the rain, towards someone, this is her monologue. Her song, a story. I cannot hear her well but the feeling is that of ache, sadness. The rhythm is sound of her body language. Is it about a certain misfortune? The anxiety of measuring the weight of love lost? Metaphors. Meaning. Metaphysical philosophy and science.

Then the song ends, abrupt, hung, like an idol on a tightrope in the kitchen – don’t cry over spilt milk.
