tesla boyYes, I am well aware that I’ve written about Tesla Boy a year back. My expectations for them were too high and somewhat controversial. I wanted to like them but I couldn’t bring myself to give 100%. It’s like you’re almost there, could quite readily orgasm all over it, but something happened and… well, – the moment’s gone too soon. It is very frustrating for a knobhead blogger like me to check out a hype only to feel short-changed after.
Of course, now I will have to eat my words.

Tesla Boy has of course proven themselves to be more than just Frankie Says Relax tee, in order words, more than just a passing fad. Modern Thrills, the debut album, a collection of new stuff and old tracks from their breakthrough self-titled EP was just released the early part of last month and it’s still sending fresh ripples through the scene. The album has already surpassed my short attention span and expectations.

The pop is still there, that signature seamless new wave-y 80s synthpop paired with Anton’s sure, teasing croon that has defined their sound in their previous output.

Oh and this Anoraak remix is such a stunner:

But when it comes down to it, the most important track you need to check out is not on their album, rather, its on their soundcloud. A long, epic mix made for late nights at the carpark after the club, you bring the slow motion party with you and turn it into a disco. It is a brilliant showcase of their mixing skills – nu-disco, deep and dreamwave-y. It’s like the magic lights are comin on and you can almost touch it:

Watch out for the grand synths on 10:39. It’s real deep and it’s by this dude here below:

So, my final question is: when will Tesla Boy come over to the UK for a tour? :D
