Hip hop but not quite. AEED is a producer based in Switzerland, and describes his music as “21st century beat music”. We hear hip hop with chopped, staggered vocals but there are also shades of ambient with his signature 8-bit style electronica. The closest other artist whom I can compare this to will probably be Hudson Mohawke, whom I went to see a few months back at Nation in Leeds.

Hudson’s style is kinda brash whereas AEED’s flow is more smooth, the track Error Code for example, is a great instance. Soulful vox, crunk-y synth stabs and blooming and disintegrating bleeps bubbling all over the surface. There’s quite a lot of good stuff going on here.
