Minor Stars. All I can say is, WOW. Rock the way it’s meant to be, a kick in the balls. Death Of The Sun In The Silver Sea is one heck of a record, unlike the shit you hear on the radio these days. It’s really hard for me to like american rock sometimes but these lads have got all the best bits in the right places. Heavy fat fuzzy guitars with a razors through the record, punctuated with gut wrenching, psychadelic solos.

On mellower moments, they sound like Dinosaur Jr / Elliott Smith. The opening track, The Death Of The Sun has parts that remind me, undoubtedly of Smashing Pumpkins. In other words, Minor Stars is like a 90s band, a very good 90s band, in the 21st century – still very relevant. If there’s one track that I have to pick out of the album, it would be the last closing one, Overdrive / In The Silver Sea. Now that is EPIC. Especially the breakdown at 2:05 – spine tingling. Literally, jaw-dropping. The drums… – fuck me.
A band that needs to be appreciated live so you can feel the full power of their assault. If I had only one complaint, it would probably be that I would like more songs like that last track.
