So while anyone with half-a-band, within a 50mile radius from the beach starts adopting “surf” and “chillwave” as their “new sound”, the folks over at the warm pacific waters on the Australian coast of Adelaide are cooling down with moody, slow-fi guitar pop.
I hate to say this, but it’s so refreshing. I know there will probably be a few more posts on these chillwave bands, with the exception of a few, some of them are still quite awesome. Its just that sometimes you crave for something different to what’s on offer at the moment.
Twee is a concept that I struggle to grasp at times, but thankfully Our Husband‘s delicious jangly guitars, melancholia and beautiful, haunting vocals saved them from being just another band in the sweater-worshipping-genre bandwagon.
