Thank you Digory from Claymore Studios in Vancouver for pointing me in the right direction. You see a few days ago, I got excited about this other Vancouver band, Oh No! Yoko and raved about them. So he kindly dropped me an email about this other band that recorded at his studio and they are called Young Liars. This is another fine example of not judging a band by their myspace friend count.

Young Liars are, presumably, in the same scene as Oh No! Yoko and Teen Daze, seeing that Teen Daze remixed one of their songs. They are also very much in the same vein as pre-Spanish Sahara Foals, less errattic math-y insectoid guitars, slightly subdued, and definitely more dance. Marathon kicks off like a Bloc Party track off Silent Alarm whereas Colours really really has all the hallmarks of Modest Mouse, in a way that makes me smile.

I turn up my speakers, and smile like I recognize their songs from memory.
