The good thing about going to see good gigs is that you get to see good bands and you get educated. Which is what essentially happened to me after that Zola Jesus gig. I’m sorry if ya’ll are sick of hearing about Zola Jesus but I honestly know and can feel in my gut that she’s gonna be massive. Mark my words.

Anyway, The Horn The Hunt is the result of such an education. How could I not have known about that, the fact that they’re in the same city as I’m in? Leeds is awesome for pleasant surprises such as this. The Horn The Hunt opened the Zola Jesus gig and their set was, literally, mind blowing. My partner, who came to the show with me, couldn’t decide who to talk more about: Zola Jesus or these guys.

Think Bat For Lashes meets The Knife and you’re not even close. At times, Clare Carter’s vocals, in songs like The Old Hunting Ground, has echoes of Alison Goldfrapp. These guys are definitely ones to watch.
Speaking of watching them, they’re playing at my clubnight this September 25th. If you’re in the UK, head north for the night. You wont regret it.
