You didn’t miss me did ya? Don’t worry, I’m back. Got a present as well, from the filthy lummoxes at Rag & Bone records. It’s The Squire of Gothos new album, We Do Scorpion Things, out a few days back. Basically, what The Squire of Gothos have done is take dubstep from its comfort zone into an alien lab and start breeding it with other wild strains of old school rave, techno and jungle. Yes, it’s become a mutant. It’s ketamine music at its best.
And for all those folks who hoped for dubstep to “mature” into a more palatable, sophisticated piece of cheese like the Burial kind well, this aint. Neither is it part of the flashy new equation of post-dubstep + house = future garage stuff. Some of you might get pissed off about this but really, this is meant to put a smile on your face and go apeshit.

Dark Ting off We Do Scorpion Things is a favorite of mine – menacing industrial athmospheric sounds and disintengrating basslines all merge together like an amoeba into a tight idm/minimal techno beat. After Hours Dog Racing is the sickening gorestep vomit you’d come to wipe your face over with and Emptying Full Clips is the monster rave / jungle mess to drop at 1am when everyone’s perfectly munted and off their tits. Flex Hype is just absolutely ridiculously insane.
“Can I have a drink of your lypo please?” These guys should be a british instituition.
