Islington Boy’s Club is something unlike I have ever encountered before. Not since Brian Molko has any british band ever had an intriguing and captivating frontman. (Patrick Wolf doesn’t count). I found myself wondering if lead vocalist Andy Lovelee is a guy or girl – and I’m not being a knobhead. Perhaps that is the goal: this cross-gender bending theme is something I do myself but the difference between me and this enigma is that he can sing and I can’t.

Andy has a gift, already people are likening him to a “young Bowie,” and I like the tight white denim, reminds me of Richey James way back then. His voice morphs from Blondie-femme to glamrock seduction. The band, with their guitars on echo, and dark tones have all the sensibilities of early 90s post-punk goth bands like Pink Turns Blue. I like them.
The new single will be released on 22nd of November via Club.The.Mammoth / Too Pure which you can pre order here.
