Big tunes right here. Fellow Ukrainian blog friends The Wicked Bass has turned their attention to releasing records. Last December was the excellent Volta Cab ep. This time today, Lokiboi‘s Mind The Gap EP comes out. Lokiboi is 19 year old Vladimir Strabykin, originally from Moscow but now counts London as his second home, where he is currently studying music.

Yes, London’s played a huge influence, on this guy but I’ve always held a biased love for Russian / Eastern European bass sounds (check the posts I’ve made on B.Soul, Lapti, Sentel, Valta & Minikin etc), found them to possess a deeper and edgier sophistication than their UK / US counterparts. Lokiboi’s special. He’s always pushing for abstract breakaways, defiant experimentalism, while still maintaining that future dubstep sensiblity. And always minimal, always going for minimal sounds.

Like U is a massive track, I guess you can easily call that one a garage hit.
The darker, deeper vibes of Pressure and the funky percussion party on Amsterdam Riddim also feature in Mind The Gap, both backed up by big remixes from Talk, and Ratcatcher (C.R.S.T).
