dj krushI finally got to see, probably, one of my favorite bands ever, like EVER last night at Brixton Academy. They go by The Music. I thought this might be an endearing way for me to start the post as they are Leeds boys and took pleasure in reminding us that we are southerners and they are not. Whatever to be honest the gig was out of this world, but in a typical way they are now splitting up and destined to remain only in the memories and ears of their fans.
One other reason I mention them is their body of work. First album was AMAZING. It literally caused my mind and bodily functions to implode Then the second was kind of meeehh and the third was good. A lot of the same could be said for Dj Shadow, first album was so different no one really new what it was or where this guy was coming from. Then progressively it he moved into new directions and I progressively became less and less excited about his music.

Dj Krush who you can loosely put into the same boat has never really suffered the same fall from bass grace. He seems to sit in his own realm, warming his thrown with no intention of moving and honestly why would he. He makes amazing beats and his dj sets are so off centre you can’t help but groove to the mash and depth of what he does. Check a fine example of that below when he layer down a “Train Wreck Mix” for Rbma Radio..

Peaches is a lady that everyone has heard of. She holds a reputation for making sexed out electro filthy music that is perfect for exactly what you imagine it would be perfect for but also actually well produced and at the time of its conception kind of ground breaking. It may not seem like a hard thing to do but we get intimate by a roaring fire and “chat” with Peaches about what makes her maker her music.

Finally to finish off a band that are probably about as legendary as legendary can be without becoming mythical or something…..Primal Scream. This 2 part set is taken live from Benicassim, where all reports agree that they smashed, grabbed, killed, destroyed, paralyzed and broke both of it’s arms. Listening to it back you can see how the kind of sounds they were pioneers of have had such a huge influence in the electronic / indie dance rock band scene where there are so many bands nowadays you can just as easily put into a dance club and they’ll be happy as putting them in front of a crowd of rockers equally have the same affect. Check both parts below..
