New favorite band OF THE FUCKING YEAR. The Coathangers (not to be confused with the Raincoats, although that would be quite funny) are a 4 piece all girl punk band from Atlanta and before I can even say check them out before Pitchfork turns them into disposable hipster hype, Big P got there before me. Nothing wrong with that. I’m just being bitchy.

We’ve had No Joy, Beach House, Vivian Girls and Dum Dum Girls. These past 2-3 years’ve been really good for girl bands. But none of them bands are as visceral, in your face, shambolic, shrieky or sonically mental as these guys. Xray Recordings from London have re-released 2 tracks taken from their Larceny & Old Lace album, produced by Ed Rawls (Deerhunter) onto limited numbers of hand numbered flexidiscs. I expect to see them in the UK very soon.
