The official video for Hollow from Bjork‘s eighth full length album Biophilia has just been uploaded less than 24 hours ago. The video sees the Icelandic songstress team up with Drew Berry, one of the world’s foremost animator specializing in biomedical visualization, to represent a partly scientific view of the song.
The level of detail in the graphics of the video was achieved by taking exploring inside Bjork’s body at a microscopic level, and the animation was then created from molecular models of DNA through scientifically sourced data obtained from methods such as x-ray crystallography.
Acomplicated process and one that is fascinating at the same time – the result is a beautiful video, painfully intricate, fitting for a song as eerie as Hollow. It forms part of the theme of Biophilia, – through which Bjork reaches out to her audience and explains how nature, music and technology can come together into one amazing, beautiful union.
