My new favorite obsession of the year. They’re 2:54 and I think I’m going to go and see them in Leeds tonight. What is it about them that enthralls me so? Check this beautiful video:

2:54 are sisters Colette and Hannah Thurlow, joined by Alex and Joel on bass and drums. It’s the haunting dual guitars and the seductive vocals that get to me, it’s sexy, dangerous and dark at the same time. Vivid, brooding and moody as hell, listening to them conjures up bits and pieces of images from random films – late night lonely drives, out to the edge of town, cut to a crappy motel room, then cut to somebody that looks like a version of Fiona Apple staring at you in a dingy nightclub, a cigarette dangling from her mouth, a frantic party in full swing – everything seen through slowmotion lens.
Its like if the XX, Phantogram and School of Seven Bells making a record together, they’ll sound like this. Hell, Warpaint fans will seriously dig this band.
