The pleasure of finding and listening to such ungodly sounds at this holy hour, its so fucking satisfying. Heroin Diet are a punk band from Manchester, fast 2 minute blasts with reverb vocals, very much in the vein as the recent new wave of punk upstarts like those Danish brats, Iceage. Heroin Diet are somewhat newly formed and I’ve just discovered that I’ve missed their show last night at Wharf Chambers. Bummer.

I wanted to buy their cd, but they currently only have their demo in tape format. I like tapes, the problem is I no longer own a tape player, and this is fucking lame of me, I know. Tape players are relatively cheap these days but I’ve just not gotten round to getting one. So I emailed the band, and asked if I could buy any merch (like patches or badges etc) instead. Nathan got back to me and said they don’t have any merch at the moment and would I like to buy the tape. I told him about my tape predicament but told him I really genuinely wanted to buy their stuff, having heard these 2 songs on their bandcamp:
He emailed me back with a link to their entire demo tape in mp3 format – for free. I was just like, wow. He doesnt even know me. This makes me wanna support the band even more.
Why am I drawn to Heroin Diet? Because its scuzzy and its punk as fuck. Because it brings up memories of the punk rock days of my youth listening to mixtapes made by friends with bands like Black Flag, Adolescents, Reagan Youth and The Germs in em:

Heroin Diet are playing another show in Leeds on the 5th of May at Wharf Chambers again.
