Whoa. I’ve been pretty tied up lately. Won’t bore you guys with the details but in a nutshell, I’ve been helping out to organize a coupla shows, one of which is a film festival, and then also recording with the band etc. Today I’m going to introduce to you a band that I’ve encountered whilst organizing one of those gigs I mentioned earlier.
Endless Rope is a band that rose from the ashes of Twisted, another really awesome DIY band that I got into quite awhile back. I wasn’t aware they’ve split up 2 years ago until I contacted Jon asking if they’d like to play. Comprising of members from Twisted, Facel Vega, my other fav local screamo band Etai Keshiki (whom I’ve neglected to feature on this blog for some reason), and Waste of Rations, Endless Rope play furious, emotive hardcore punk with earnest Rites of Spring style shouty vocals. It’s got a dark, seriously late 90s, early 2000 sound that makes me feel all nostalgic inside – this is a good thing.
This is my fav track from their demo recording:
[Endless Rope - Antiquated]
Another important distinction is also the obvious post-punk influence, like in this track Nothing. The bassline is very Joy Division-esque:
[Endless Rope - Nothing]
If you get the chance to go and see them live, I’d definitely recommend it.
