Went out last night because I felt like I needed to get out for a bit. Came over to see Etai Keshiki play at Wharf Chambers for the Beauty Pageant / Trans/Human / Moral Holiday gig. Anyway this post is dedicated to Etai because I’ve always meant to do a proper post but never got round to one.
Etai Keshiki describe themselves as “used to be ropey, now a legit riff unit” – but I honestly think they’re ace. The drummer, Rob, is also in Endless Rope, a great band whom I’ve featured on here before. The first time I got to know them was when Daria handed me a tape at a show, I think it was last year. They certainly weren’t ropey then and they aren’t now either. Plus, I just love how Daria works her guitars and the effects she uses.
The band has since moved on from screamy furious sets to noisier, more experimental territories. When I saw them last night they’ve started to introduce a strange, little device that emitted wasp-y crazy sounds in their set. I love it. Bought a patch from them too.

I caught some of the other bands but I was so tired that I had to leave early and missed some good stuff. Here are some photos that I managed to snap before my exhaustion got the better of me and some sounds to get you in on it:

Please please visit the bands’ websites and purchase a tape or release or go to their shows when you can.
