everything is made in china (eimic)

When was the last time I got an email from Russia? Probably during conversations with Tesla Boy. And that was like ages ago so this one was a nice surprise. Everything Is Made In China (EIMIC) are 3 lads from Russia and they make offbeat quirky guitar pop songs with a proggy aesthetic. Think Blonde Redhead meets The Pineapple Thief, a bit of Foals – maybe. They actually sound very good and despite the fact that they’ve recorded and produced with Dean Marino (Tokyo Police Club, Born Ruffians) and John McEntire (Broken Social Scene, PVT, Tortoise), I’ve never actually heard of them.

Their most recent single in particular, called Parades, is absolutely stellar. You can sorta feel the post-rock leanings on this one. Beautifully arranged sections, dropping off fluidly into tempo-changes, gentle off timing and then coming together really well, it’s so effortless.

If the sounds could be physically seen, they would be pretty.
