Can you smell that in the air? I’m not talking about the smell of damp, and the wet and the cold. I’m talking about the smell of a great party, there is that scent of expectation hanging in the air in Leeds city centre. Because in about 48 hours time, all those work hours of the week will dissolve to a point, to a time, to a place – the venue will be Canal Mills this Friday, the time will probably be the best night of your life.
Word on the street is that there is a new club venue opening in this great city – and it’s not your regular high street club, mind. It’s a new warehouse venue, a former wool manufacturing mill turned into a multi-disciplinary arts and events venue fit for a hard-partying, cultural city with an illustrious industrial past. It’s the product of a team up between the best minds behind some of Leeds’ most established nights, Wax:On, Metropolis and Hideout Fest.
I am totally all up for a new clubbing experience, hidden gems inside a techno bunker underneath railway tracks, grimy super awesome discos in ex-factories and warehouse parties in unexplored sections of the city sound like the perfect setting for a night of pushing the boundaries of sight, sound and experiences.
Imagine Simian Mobile Disco, Julio Bashmore and Tensnake back to back on the decks in a massive characteristic former mill – well you don’t really have to imagine anymore. They’ll be joined by People Get Real, The 2 Bears, local mono_cult residents and Tom Grainger and The Lightning. 2 rooms of the biggest beats. We’ll be there taking in and capturing the vibes, come say hello!
Enjoy these snippets as a nice little preview while you count the hours down.
